Chucked keys onto dash and they have gone down the window vent.

So my keys have fallen into the abyiss that is the vents by way of the front window screen vent. Iv had the whole dash out but couldn’t get to the top of the vent, anyone know the best way of getting to these keys? Spent about an hour with a magnet on a string but the keys catch somewhere on there way up, if anyone has any ideas before I get the sledgehammer out...

Hi there

I done this with a set of house keys tried for hours to pull them out with a magnet but the magnet kept getting wrapped in the flaps for changing air flow. Eventually i stripped the centre piece out under the gear stick and the surround. In here is a white box which is the lower end of the housing that holds all the working for the blower i put a coat hanger in here as it was lying on the bottom and hooked it then teased it out between the bottom of the box, which is open and the carpet.
