Rear carrier for single bike

Hello again!  Still got a Berlingo (single rear door) and I need some info.
I have a rear carrier from some years back; I'm not too happy about fitting it using the rear windscreen to support the upper strut.  Anybody had experience of this, and what did you eventually do?

    Several threads on here about carrying bikes, the great thing about the Berlingo is its ability to accommodate one or more fully built up bikes (wheels on) inside them, if you really can't afford the interior space then consider a tow-ball mounted rack.
