Heater Blower Relay / resistor location
#11
(06-06-2018, 05:56 PM)timb Wrote:  Hello,

Have sorted the problem. The relay had blown.

To help others, the relay is located underneath the fuse box in the glove compartment.

The glove compartment surround needs to be removed to access this - just undo the screws and pull out.

Here is a photo showing the burnt out rely:

We bought a replacement at the local citroen dealer - cost £8.

Pull the old one out, put the new one in. Heater blower fan now works again.

Main clue to this diagnosis is that the fan was dead on all settings. If the resistor is the problem, it sounds like the fan will only work on full power - ie 4.

Here is the location of the relay:

Hope this helps others!

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim, did this replacement last as I've been quoted £51 inclusive from main dealer.. My relay is burnt similar to yours but the socket is also a bit scorched.. So I was going to try a second hand one first rather than pay £51

Ummm I've got the sister vehicle ☹️ pug tepee.
I was quoted £51 yesterday. Does yours have aircon?

I got one from a breaker today for £10.. Its fixed the fans..
But why is my dealership quoting £51 for 35/15A 12v

When others are getting £8 quotes...

I saw a really good YouTube video, explaining how to change it.

***One comment said you could replace with a halfords part £5:70 but it's rated at 30/15A 12V*****

Thanks for replying ??

Yes it has A/C.

Are they charging for them to fit it, I can see where £51 would come from if that is the case.

Hi thanks for replying again...
No that's the price the dealership are pricing for the part only.. I double checked that it was just the relay not the plug as well.. £51

That's my relay above, it looks the same as Tim's one..

No rush but if you can find the citroen part number could you possibly post it here for me..

I'd love to get a quote of £8 from citroen and we'll let's say be a bit smug with the pug sales team ?
