[Transmission] Gearbox replacement

Hiya all...

 The BE4R gearbox is giving up should I get it rebuilt or buy a refurb box off a refurb company.. There are a few transmission rebuild companies around and around £600 seems to be the money, it is a van I use for my daily work, it is a 1.9D..

 Have you any experience of replacing a gearbox ?

Hi there, getting it rebuilt would obviously take longer than buying one already done. That said, a warranty on either is needed for comfort. The work on the van takes just as long to fit either, so I'd go for a refurbished unit with a guarantee which cuts the time down.

Stick to a gearbox specialist too. Getting a garage mechanic to just rebuild a box is not a good idea, unless that's their main thing.
