inside windscreen grasy
#11
The title was spelt that way for the benefit of the borneo cannibals  who as they clean out the cooking pots after eating a missionary or two , say " well that wasn't too grasy was it." ?. Tongue
Fancy not knowing that . Exclamation

I must admit there was something in your suggestion as when the petrol runs down the winner windscreen it will help to soften the grasy . upgrade your score to 2 .

Then there was the one about the two cannibals who ate two comedians; whilst eating one says to the other does this taste funny to you.

I think the use of any silicon spray used as a dash cleaner gets leached off by the action of the sun and sticks to inside of windscreen and is a devil to remove.

Amusing thread! Big Grin

In seriousness, have you looked into the cause of this? A previous car of mine kept misting up the insides of windows with a "grasy" film. It turned out to be a weepy heater matrix, even though there was no sweet horrible smell of coolant.

My 2008 Berlingo also mists up the inside of the windscreen, although to not such a great extent. However, there is a smell of coolant when the heater is turned up. Not so much of a problem in the current climate! Will be a different matter in the winter though. I'll stock up on newspaper...

Thanks but my matrix is OK, just been to the doctors as it wasn't that that started leaking Confused

I think the main cause was just negligence as when new it was a large organisations hack  in which anyone used it and therefore nobody cared ,as long as they could see out of the drivers side the rest was ignored.

You may have been right as I don't know if the heater matrix had went bust in the past and been replaced for as you say it leaves a film of vaporized coolant on the inside of the screen which is very difficult to remove.

Had it with a transit once going to London on the M6 and had no option but to keep topping up the radiator at every service station and buy windscreen cleaner so I could see out.

Sometimes a tin of radiator sealer helps

Plenty of youtube material on this.
I watched one american 'hero'  and he said it was oils evaporating from the plastics inside the cabin.
Could be right.

He used a "Magic Eraser" sponge followed by regular liquid spray glass cleaner.
I found some of those sponges in aldi.
Didnt work.
I dont think you can ever get a permanent solution, but so far old fashioned pink windolene works the best.
Just dont drip it on the dash and dont use Armourall to polish up if you do.....

I vape and find my windscreen gets greasy as well. I use vodka and then a window cleaner.
