Anyone actually did a 2 din install?
#1
Hi

I used the search and found a lot of info but not actually pictures of someome who build in a 2 din radio.

I see 3 options:

1 remove the panel above the original radio and relocate the buttons

2 remove the 2 vents in the center and use that space

3 use a bracket to mount st he radio above the dash in the part of the original display

Anyone did one of these or maybe an alternative?

Well I did today. The first idea was to put the radio at the space of the vents.
I knew I had to cut the dash so I simply cut that part out, if the radio wouldn't fit i had to make something to fit the switches there.

The room behind the vents is only 15cm deep so it is to small for a radio.
I then removed the part that holds the switches. There isn't much room there as well the vent tubes run there so I now fitted the radio temporarily. The radio would be more in the dash since it now sticks out a bit and is bit hard to see.

I need a 2din bracket (plastic or something) that I can angle down a bit.

Then I need to make a panel that can hold the switches and make a new face plate that covers the whole lot.
