Halfords Dashcam Fitting
#1
I'm a great fan of my 2014 VTR Airdream, but know nothing about technical matters, though I can recognise when the windscreen needs cleaning.

Has anyone had a dashcam hardwire fitted by Halfords? I was thinking of getting a Nextbase 512 GW and wondered if they are any good at fitting them? And are there any drawbacks? Apart from my own driving being recorded for criticism...

I never realised Halford's done such technical work there or even had staff that could do work

Also if it was my pride and joy Halfords would be the last people i would let loose on it ;-) When they fit it will this be to a permanent live or just off the back of the lighter socket that gets switched off by the BSI when it goes into energy saving mode.

Talking of the professionals at Halfords i was in there other day getting some tools and a lady asked do you do air-con re-gas yes madam i thought to my self ive never seen a machine there for air-con so outside i wondered to see what was going to happen. Ok so first thing madam start the engine and let it run for a couple of min then while the engine was running 4 min later was all done they are so good. Well laugh my nipper said whats so funny i had to take a picture and send it to my mate who had just bought a machine telling him he had wasted his money this is how the professionals do it.

Oh dear. Perhaps I'll ask my Citroen main dealer about it.

Have a look around at independents in your area the professional companies have the proper kit and do a good job for a fare price. I usually get my aircon serviced in the spring or winter when they have offers on and it takes about an hour. Ive used in the past ATS tyremasters and Formula 1 to name two. Don't forget to replace your pollen filter regularly as its not replaced at service intervals at many main dealers.
Are we there yet????? Huh

The Nexbase 512GW is a very good camera and it is not hard to hard wire. The wire runs tucked under the head lining down the A pillar and into the glove box to the fuses. It's not difficult I'm sure Halfords can manage it.

The run of the wire to the camera is easy trying to find a feed that's not affected by the BSi is another story. And I agree with previous comments give Halfords a wide birth.
