Ariel 2012
#1
I admitted defeat and accepted help lifting a worktop up onto the roof bars and the helper carefully  rammed it into the areil, which now flops about at the root, flexing the bodywork with it.
I'm going up to the dealers for a laugh at their quote and then ordering a universal one off eBay.
Does anybody know if the cable terminal is near the ariel mount or will I have to dismantle the whole interior to reach it at the radio.
Alternatively what's the chance of successfully joining it with television coax connectors?

The cable is a different diameter to standard aerial or satellite cable and is closer to sky + type cable size.

You could try using these sky+ connectors on the old and new cables,

And these for the join,

If for any reason the connectors are too small you could try these

The one possible problem is if the cables are really cheap the inner core may be to thin / weak to enter the barrel that the two connectors screw onto.

Good luck, let us know how you get on .

Thanks,It most likely will be light guage cable as the electrical system is Chinese made.
Any advance on the terminal being up in the roof or at the head unit?

Can't be certain on the B9, but my M59 cable had a 'ring' connector held on to the aerial base by a nut & stud.
Looks like the B9 may also have that...

Base is under 12 quid from memory and easy to swap! Buying after market for less than that is just plain dumb! Sorry to be blunt, but do it once do it right is a good motto... especially if you value your radio reception!

If I can get OEM for that sort of money then that's the way forward.
Oddly enough though, having unscrewed the mast leaving just the stump made very little difference to the reception.
