Hi Guys,
I have an ABS alarm that triggers after about one hour of driving. Just appears when driving along on a motorway, but only sometimes. It also clears irregularly. My code reader wouldn't pick this type of alarm so have ordered a lexia.
I've checked the brake fluid which is fine.
Prior to the arrival of the code reader does anyone have thoughts on what it might be?

Have loaded Diagbox 7.02 onto an old xp computer. Read the codes, its the front offside sensor reporting a fault. The wiring looks OK but can't get the sensor out as the torx screw is stuck in. In danger of rounding the screw hole. Left it with a liberal dose of WD40. May have to get the Dremel out.

My previous abs problems have been down to bad connection where abs sensor plugs into the main harness under the wheel arch. Try a clean up and spray in some contact cleaner. Cheap and easy, may work.

I just had a similar thing hapenning with one of the rear sensors...It ended up being a cable from the main harness, broken where a cable tie held it to the chassis, just after the plug to the sensor...

Hi Guys,
Update: Before taking to the garage had another look at the wiring it looked fine. Tested with an Ohmmeter and had steady readings with both directions. The garage welded a nut onto the remaining portion of the bolt and removed it. Unfortunately a new sensor didn't solve the problem and a new hub bearing (integral encoder) was needed. All fine now.
