I know this is a stupid question even as I type it.........
Are the front springs different diameters??? I had a broken spring replaced recently. Yesterday I heard a familiar "crack". I had a look and I dont see anything broken, however, springs look different left and right......
Thanks !

Do you mean different wire diameters ? They can be from different manufacturers, the wire diameter and number of turns can differ to make up the poundage.
So where does this bit go then ?

Its not best practice to just change one spring on an axle especially if they have both been on for years.
Are we there yet?????

If the wrong diameter spring was fitted it would not fit properly in the spring seat at the bottom of the spring. Feeling with your fingers would show if any difference. Unless , the strut was also changed for the wrong one. (second hand one ?)
Measuring the diameter of each side would show if they are wrong.

As Tomcat ... always fit springs in pairs on the same axle.
Springs fatigue in use, so the new spring will take more punishment than it would if two were fitted.
And beware the winter months!
Mix cold weather, short journeys and speed bumps and you have a recipe for broken springs!
