1. This should be posted under the correct model in the 'Specific Model chat' section.
(makes it easier for people to notice it when it drops off the recent threads panel)

Which year is your car, and which year is the replacement engine?

Did you try to reset the 'tilt switch' in the engine bay?

Have you bled the fuel system including at the pump ?

Failure to bleed will mean the engine will never start.

Do you have a Haynes Manual ?? If not have a search on this site as there is one here for free download.
The section on bleeding is minimal but it does if I recall correctly show an image of where to bleed the pump.

Ok going from memory, been a while since I owned a 1.9 .....

Follow the pipe that goes from the filter housing to the injection pump and where it enters you should see a bleeding point, seem to recall it is a small hexagon about 8mm. Slacken this off and pump the priming bulb / plunger depending on which year it is and when fuel comes out there will now be fuel at the pump. Next try starting the engine.

Has the engine you have fitted got an immobiliser type solenoid on the pump? You will be able to tell because the solenoid will be covered by an armoured cover.

If so you will need to fit the pump off the old motor.
