Replace master cylinder reservoir
#1
How easy do you think this will be, a while ago I managed to snap the spigot on the lower reservoir where the top reservoir feeds into it. I was in a rush at the time so removed the pipe altogether and sealed the hole in the reservoir by screwing a bolt in wrapped in PTFE tape.

It worked fine for ages and we even managed to change the rear pads recently as well so the reservoir was well and truly full. But in the last few days the warning light has come on and although the level looks ok in it its obviously dropped enough so must be leaking slightly.

I was going to buy a master cylinder and reservoir from ebay for £30 or so and just swap the reservoir, how easily do they pull apart? and whats the odds on having a system full of air at the end of it, especially the clutch hydraulics. Its a long way to bleed the system if the air is in the reservoir end isn't it.

Well I watched a YouTube video where the guy needed access underneath and just unbolted and hung it across on the pipes without much concern so I would imagine as long as you're careful and allow the new one to settle and then give it a gentle wiggle you should get any air out upwards.
That's unless you factor in sods law of course....
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top
