Turbo seemed abit louder, been a week or so before I had time to check what it was.
It was the air inlet to the turbo had popped off so it was getting unfiltered air.
Now why would that affect power and mpg.
Seems perkyer and mpg down from 44ish to 36 mpg

Turbo and air flow dynamics and your MAF being bypassed to a certain degree.
They spend time & money designing an efficient and quiet inlet tract in the space allowed that will feed the air to the turbo in the most efficient flow .
I'm no expert on this but after spending some time studying various inlet manifolds for the old A series engine I realised there was quite a lot to this business. Just as the filter housing looks like just a box, but some work has gone into it.

Ah I should have thought of it. Id say you hit The nail on the head with the MAF sensor.
