We do like weekends away in the uk, so will build a camper conversion

I have an Audi A6 with the impressive 1.9 pdi engine.. Cool

Or should I go for a 1.9 d plodder..

For your useage clearly the 1.9d is not in the equation but I guess you knew that really and was teasing us all ?
I owned a 1.9d van for a while and whilst loving it I pondered on getting a 1.6 Hdi but was concerned by all the scare stories and held off for a long time, now I have the 1.6 Hdi Multispace and have not looked back.
The 75 horse engine will manage to do what you need in a sedate yet infinitely better way than the 1.9d but ideally you need the 90 horse engine for the weight carrying and hill climbing, having had that Audi engine you'll be glad of the horses.

Certainly don't write off the 1.6hdi

I have had two and now own the eHdi 113bhp version in our current C4GP. Although my van is just about to hit 3 years old, I have done nothing special with it 16k service intervals all dealer stamped - i currently have 78k on the clock and it drives the same as it did on day one.

My previous C4GP had 94k on the clock and the only failures with that were electrical - that was a 2011 engine and would have been in the class that had turbo issues.

I certainly wouldn't compare the berlingo to the focus in terms of drive ability - I've had a Mk1 1.6 petrol focus and a Mk2 1.8 tdci. Both very different cars compared to the berlingo
Previous Berlingo: 2015 1.6 L1850 90ps In Artic Steel inc Look Pack and Lighting Pack.

Previous Berlingo: K9 2018 Driver M 100ps in Platinum Grey with Safety Pack

Current Berlingo: 2021 K9 Driver M Pro 130ps EAT8 in Platinum Grey with Safety Pack

2.0 HDI is a great lump, but nothing wrong with a 1.6HDI a well looked after one anyway.

TBH
I wasn't sure of the 1.9d

Sounds like the 2.0 td is much better,

And a good 1.6 would be similar..

How about the petrol versions..?

My a6 has around 150bhp, but is a big car
