What are the best tools for fault finding for a car of this vintage,
do I need a laptop based solution..?

I have DiagBox installed on a cheap laptop and just for a quick check I have a Bluetooth dongle that connects to the under dash connector and that speaks to an app called Torque on my phone.

Is yours an M59? The OBD reader I've got for my '11 plate VW does'nt read my '06 plate 'Lingo.

I partly understand..
Do you have a link or more info on the hardware..I only have a macbook as a pc
