[Engine] Adding Keys with Lexia

I only have one key so am thinking about getting another, but I'm not 100% certain if I have the correct code for Lexia so want to check before I decide to get a key & add it myself or get the existing one cloned. I know that I can get the code from a dealer but would like to see if the one I have is correct.

Does anyone know if Lexia will tell you that your code is wrong on the first entry of 2 or only after the second time you put the pin in?

If I put the correct code in twice, can I back out of the programming without adding any keys or changing anything?

If I put the wrong code in, is there a limit to how many times I can do that?

As you may be able to tell, I'm not used to Lexia and a bit paranoid, especially when I remember the post where someone was checking things out and managed to delete all his keys!

I found a helpful guide on youtube, it shows all the steps to add keys but the person doing it knew he had the correct code. My situation is slightly different as all I really want to do at the moment is check if I have the correct code.

I think you can re-program another key without deleting any other already working keys. I did this myself. Deleted one of my keys and then the car did not start with that one, was only turning but could not start. My second key was working without a problem. So, I re-programmed the "deleted" key and it was working again.
If you get a key, it should not be a problem to re-program it. If the code is incorrect, you would not be able to re-program it, but this should not affect your existing one.

Thanks for your reply. The Lexia example that I saw on YouTube seemed to say that you need to add all of your keys, or to put it another way, any keys you don't add will no longer work. There's also a warning about using the wrong code.

It's all a question of money in the end. I have a local locksmith who will cut & clone a key for £40, or there's a seller on ebay saying they will supply a cut transponder key for £20, but then I'll need to add it via Lexia. I have Lexia & I like the idea of saving £20 plus a 40 mile round trip.

I called my local Citroen garage to see if they can verify my code.
It turns out that there are a couple of options.

1, They can call Citroen, it costs them about £12.50 so to get it from them costs £12.50 + whatever margin they decide to add +VAT so approx £15+
2, They can order a new code confirmation label, this costs less but probably takes a while.

I think the second item is what I already have & so will take it down to the dealer to check when I'm next in town.

try your code,don't worry lexia will not let u go any further if security code is wrong...if code is good,no problem..put original key in first,then simply follow the instuctions on screen.....-------don't forget sychronise keys after programing
if u put wrong code in the second part...lexia will tell u it does not match..and go no further,until right code is put in..

Thanks, I'm probably worrying too much about this, it's just the thought of not having any working keys!
On the putting the code in twice bit, does it reject the first entry if it's wrong or does it wait for the second entry before it tells you?

lexia will reject  wrong code 1st or second.........if u have right security code u can program keys.........but they have to be virgin keys......[so the key u have  does it start car and open doors]......if so ur good to go........
SECURITY KEY CODE MARRIED TO VEHICLE..it will not accept any other key code......

Today I added my second key while holding my breath, all was well, I now have 2 working keys and 1 remote.
To answer my own question, after adding the keys, I also tried to enter an incorrect code. Lexia did not complain on the first entry and asked for the code to be entered again. So, AFAIK the only way to know if you have the correct code via Lexia is to go through the key programming process.
