[Warning Light] Airbag light suprise
#1
Hi, my airbag warning light came on and all the usual fixes were tried to no avail. Took it to a local auto electrician who diagnosed the fault as, Nearside crash sensor. I had not heard of this before and the part took 3 days to arrive from Citroen. Total cost with diagnostics, labour and the sensor came to £164.00! Anyone else had this problem? I thought I would get away with fiddling with the wires under the seat!! Oh well.

It helps when you report things like this problem you had and how it was fixed, thanks.  Big Grin

But as there are a lot of different models and model it would help others even more  if you include your model and year in the post or in your signature.

It saves a lot of looking up  your old posts to see if your model was mentioned before

Sensors everywhere nowdays - and sources of extra troubles!

Was this sensor fitted in the door, as some are? If so, make sure that there is no water ingress, because a leaking door can sometimes ruin an airbag sensor and cause expensive trouble.

Yeah, it would be good to know what year / model / engine, also the part number if you still have it to hand. I'm guessing it's a late model M59?

Hi again its a 07 1.6 16v multispace. There are 2 part numbers on the sensor. C7352201660 & 9636982680. hope this is useful. As for the position of the sensor, I do not know.

Thanks for the info, did they say where the part is mounted? Does your car also have airbags in the sides of the seats, if so I'm guessing that this is what activates them.

They did not say where the sensor was mounted, my car does not airbags in the sides of the seat.

Just wondering ... the M59's I've looked at all seem to have seat side airbags. Maybe your's has seats without this feature, but for a 'Nearside crash sensor' to be present it is common for it to be wired into the nearside front seat.

I'm no expert, so I'm only going on what Ive learned as an amateur mechanic.

My 2004 2.0 did not have seat side airbags, but my 2008 1.6 does have them.

The early ones had seat side bags as part of a safety pack option. We added it to our 52 plate. Passenger bag, seat bags and ABS from memory.
