tyre pressure monitoring and aftermarket wheels
#1
I have a 2016 multispace XTR.  I want to buy some steel wheels and winters.  Can I get these without tyre pressure monitors?  As I understand it these are fitted to the standard wheels.

I am not bothered about having them fitted but wondering if I fit steelies without monitors that it will throw up some warning?

Cheers.

all monitored via the abs sensors nowadays surely ?

Not necessarily measured by the abs, this is the more budget system, the more accurate systems use tpms electronic valves.
You can have a spare set of wheels st up for the car, so that it will recognise a winter & summer set.
Obviously you could drive without them & put up with the light being on all the time, but it is now an mot failure.
We have just invested in the best tpms machine available, so we can program hybrid valves into most cars, hence keeping the cost down for our customers.

But tpms technology is very useful, surely you would want it to work ?

How do I know if I have the valves installed - or do all modern blingos have them?  With valves and then set up to the car this starts to look a lot more expensive than on previous vehicles unfortunately.

Put my winters on my new '2 me' 16 plate and 4 days later is pings up low pressure on all wheels.
It was then pinging up every time I started the car until I went in the settings and re-calibrated the pressure. That stopped the warnings and theres no warning lights anymore.

Can you buy 4 more sensors or would that require calibration every time you switched to the second set of wheels?

the car has the ability to remember 2 sets of wheel sensors, you just get the 2nd set programmed in on diagbox & it will sort itself out each time you change wheels.
this function is there as it is law to use winter tyres in many European countries.

You can programme a set of winter wheels using diagbox/planet.
