Back of engine grease and oil query

Hello everyone my wee Dorris passed the test today so all's great. I decided to get her tested before changing oil and filter and the clutch.

I'm going to replace the gearbox seal whilst I'm at it but I've noticed that the back of the engine (2.0L HDI) is clattered in grease and "stuff". I'm going to decrease the whole lot of her but what would be the source of all that grease etc.

Cam covers leak quite well..

And the turbos can pass oil leaving a mess all over the place on the high mileage 2.0hdi's

Yeah she's 135k on her. No shame on her at all really.
Might just see about getting a new seal for lid and just clean the life out of her.
