Copper injector seat washers
#1
Hi, I decided to refurb the fuel injectors in my 1999 berlingo 1.9 diesel van, all was going well until I tried to renew the seat washers to reinstall the injectors. Citroen can't help ( discontinued) , most of the diesel specialist I have tried can't supply either , the washers are a critical part and need to be right  in order to complete my task , as anyone any thoughts.

Thanks cancunia for replying , I managed to source the much needed washers from a specialist diesel injector company. These injectors on my van are of the "old type" and nobody carries spares because of its age, and why would they ? . Diesel engines in the Berlingo are much more sophisticated, will put all back together at the w/end. A Citroen dealer i contacted previously put me onto the specialist which I thought was good of them, it sounds cheesy but I like the van it starts and goes no problem and although it's slow it's reliable. Thanks again for getting back to me

You're welcome. Were your washers solid copper, or the crush variety?

The washers i removed were copper but no heat shield washers were present, I wasn't advised at the diesel specialist that it should have them ?, looking at my fitment I can't see how you could fit the steel type .

Looks like 2 from the link below (items 2&4) but I may have the wrong engine.

Actually cancunia it looks like your right, the steel washers are not loose enough to come out and looked like part of the recess where the injector fits. I think it's time for an eye test

I have replaced both sets of washers refitted the injectors replaced the leak off pipes and replaced the heater plugs , it as made a big difference no smoke whatsoever ,quieter and smoother running, I should have done it sooner
