EXHAUST POWER LOSS

Please help when i remove pipe coming exhaust manifold,  the engine idles perfect...if i put it together it cuts off....see the picture

That's the pipe for the EGR. It could be a fault in the EGR Valve , like the flap sticking down and not letting air into the engine .

The flap is in a flat position, i have two of them and they both act the same way

air filter OK and nothing blocking the air supply for the engine ?

When the engine is idling, the egr valve should remain closed. No exhaust gases should be introduced into the inlet manifold, because this would interfere with the ecu default idling mixture, which is critical for smooth idling.

If your egr is remaining open when idling, this could cause the engine to falter and stop. Your troubles look like an egr malfunction.

my understanding is that the egr is only open at idle
is this egr vacuum valve working ok ?

What ever happens the the erg stays open, and i just discovered that even if i disconnect the ECU the van still runs....am now absolutely confused

the ecu controls it via vacuum, it should be pulled open when idling
