Do you know if it's a Citroen towbar kit, or another type?

Could be anywhere!. Depends who fitted it and where they decided to put the fuse. If it's Citroen electrics for the towbar that will probably be standardised.

If you have 12S electrics (for a caravan) then there should be a fuse as near as possible to the +ve connection from the battery to the 12S setup. Having said that a crap install could have a fuse anywhere.

If 12N then there's not likely to be a standalone fuse - chances are all the wiring will be in the rear wing behind the right hand light cluster - if you pull off the plastic cover that hides the jack you may find it

Good point, any non Citroen towbar kit should have a fuse very close to the battery, assuming that the lights are not wired directly of course. Mine has an aftermarket install with the relay in by the jack, took me ages to work out where the ticking noise was coming from !

Yes, fuse should be as close to battery as possible, the length of cable from battery to fuse is always live.
