Engine tapping

Got in my Berlingo van (09) yesterday and noticed the engine has started tapping not done this before checked oil level ok engine has done 57k now any ideas

You could use a large screwdriver or piece of wood ..
as a stethoscope,to pinpoint an area the noise is coming from..

I had the same problem with mine (59 1.6hdi 90). Eventually I had to have the injector seals replaced and the tapping stopped. 

You could of course just turn the radio up!
