Just to though a different light on this subject ive seen many high mileage 1.6hdis 16v and they all have the filters in place, everyone has just had 12 month or mileage driven services.

But then i cant see how it would ever hurt to remove that stupid filter anyway.

So its serving no real purpose ? Tempted to have mine removed at its next service, 2011 model, 112,000 miles, 16V, no dpf.

That filter will eventually get fouled up..
Seems a pointless restriction in the system..

By the nature of what they do..
Filters should be replaceable...

We remove the filter from the oil feed pipe on every turbo job we do, even if it’s a brand new pipe, which tbh we now always replace.
The issue is likely with the state of the engine internally.
If yours is particularly sluged up inside it will be difficult to prevent turbo failure going forward.
I assume the garage removed the sump & cleaned this all out & the oil pick up pipe ?
I have repaired some quite dirty engines & if you carry out all these measures & change the oil a few times & then regularly afterwards then they tend to be fine.
If the car has a dpf (I guess your van won’t have) it is imperative that this is clean & free flowing.
