[Engine] New owner saying hi - and looking for part numbers for the air filter assembly
#11
If the thermostat is missing or left in a fully open position all the time the temperature will rise very slowly and may not even reach the full working temperature.

Interesting, the car stayed at about 65 degrees for a twenty minute drive, stopping and leaving it to idle at the end of the journey and it only took a couple of minutes to rise up to 85.

Plot thickens, borrowed a Bluetooth OBD reader and get these codes... (No eml displaying on doing dash though)

P0008
P0030

These translate to Engine position system, bank 1 -engine performance and, unsurprisingly, Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1, bank 1, heater control -circuit malfunction.

One of the widgets in torque refused to display Fuel system status as 'open loop due to insufficient temperature'.

So hoping that when friendly mechanic looks at it that the P008 issue is related to the temperature problems and not something else entirely!

Back to my original post which was about the airfilter. I've take a couple of snaps which will post up.

Picture of filter housing attached (note that air intake pipe goes straight in to fine but isn't attached)

Here I've moved the intake pipe to the side for better view of the air filter. Would love to see a comparison with another 1.4 engine, just to make sure not missing any air intake sensors. I can live with the filter otherwise!

Finally, whilst we are looking in my engine bay... Should this be connected to anything?!  Can't spot anything within obvious reach if it...

If you have a Haynes manual  on page 0.10 there is a picture of a 1.6 petrol engine bay. The filter housing and pipe layout is the same on my 2008 1.4.
If you haven't got a manual you can download it from this site.
If its any help I can take a few photos of the filter housing and routing tomorrow to give you a better view.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Will try to locate manual so can check if renaming pipes look standard.

Thanks for offer of pictures. To be honest just be grateful if you could check to see if you have a loose connector near the driver's side strut tower, that'll reassure me!

Again, thanks for assistance.

Just had a look at my wiring and that connector must be for another variant of the van its not connected to anything. On mine its tucked up out the way behind the brake reservoir. If you need the picture of the filter housing let me know and I will post them up later.
