my berlingo 1.9 d has started wineing when you drive and a other problem is you go to put your foot down and it holds back then picks up but if you boot the foot down it doesnt do it what things should i be checking when i got it had oil in the water but that has been cured with a new head gasket but the air manifold did have alot of oily stuge in but i cleaned it out

Hmmm. You could have a few issues! The power issue could be a few things, has it been serviced recently?
Check the normal service items first, air & fuel etc. Could be an egr issue especially if the manifold was very sludgy. You could have a lazy injector. Might be worth a bottle of redex and some decent fuel. Are there any signs of overheating? The whining could be various things. Where is it coming from? does the noise change with speed? have you got a dog in the back? Is there any difference when you depress the clutch pedal? could be a release bearing on its way (crap design). Is there any change when you brake? could be a wheel bearing.
1.9d Mk2 (M59/BE4/5) with battle scars from a conservatory attack. Previously owned a 1.4i Mk2 Forte.

many thanks and i did check the manifold and was a bit sludgy i will give it a clean and clean the erg and hope 4 the best and its due a belt change and i have heard it maybe a tensioner that is makeing that noise
