Central locking woes!

Got the new board in and the central locking fires perfectly, it does lock the car if I leave it unlocked a while but I assume that's a safety feature.

The only thing that doesn't work is the rear tailgate, the solenoid fires but the white plastic rod bounces back so I think there's a mechanical issue back there.

Thanks so much for your help, for £40 it's a great fix.

Yes, mine locks itself after a minute or so. Congrats on the fix. The clue was in the lights flashing, suggesting all is working up to the servo board. I suspect the coil has gone open circuit on one of the relays. Re the tailgate, mine didn't work either. It started working after I locked and unlocked it a few times using the key. I guessed it was due to it being stiff with lack of use.

So another update, after almost freezing to death and with much knuckle skin lost I have the rear tailgate working also!

For anyone in the same situation, I removed the whole unit from the car, if you take off the plastic cover to the left of the locking unit you will have better access, I took the whole thing out and cleaned it up with wd40, refitted andddd.....nothing.

No improvement.

But when refitting I did notice the little yelow plastic lever on the end of the key barrel which turns when you turn the key, it didn't seem to have much rotational movement to it, so I removed it and noticed a very small plastic nub(maybe 2mm high) on it, I flipped the piece so the plastic nub faces into the car not out and the movement of the arm more than doubled, now the locking works perfectly!

I can only assume that when looking into the central locking issues someone had removed and refitted the rear lock mechanism, when refitting they must have put this piece in upside down thus even when the central locking was fixed by changing the BSI top board, the rear tailgate still didn't work, now it does!
