Thanks for that Art b, I can’t find that article ? . I am in the dark with computer ‘s. Do the fuel pumps turn freely as cancunia says or should there be resistance, I am beginning to lose interest as diesels aren’t really my thing but having spent hundreds so far I can’t be that far away from this thing running,

By 'freely', I meant not stuck or grinding.
Search for the 'workshop manual' it should be on here.

I spoke to the diesel fuel pump specialists earlier today, I mentioned the problems I was having and he pointed out that the fuel pump will be the culprit and possibly why the pulley broke in the first place. He explained the reasons why these pumps are expensive to repair, mainly because not many running with this type of pump. I was taken aback at the repair cost but will probably go with it as I have spent a bit already.i would have liked to try a secondhand unit but £150 upwards with no guarantees seems risky.

a lot of breakers on eBay offer 30 days warranty..
I just bought a newly reconditioned alternator, from one for £28 delivered
There must be lots of cars running the same pump..?

There must be 100's of 1.9D engines out there in breakers, not just from Berlingos as it was a popular power unit before common rail diesels. But injector pumps can be expensive all the same
It's your money, and of course your risk so it's your choice. Personally I'd take a look on ebay using the engine code and see what comes up. Maybe you've already done that, if so, apologies.

and surprisingly some of the breakers are local,
ive had 2 newly new alternators for next to nothing compared to the refurb price.

I have tried all avenues, getting hold of the pulley was hard, I have gone down the pump being reconditioned it’s not cheap but I do get a 1 year guarantee, if I had known the pump was at fault earlier I probably wouldn’t have bothered. Secondhand parts can come along cheaply but my luck and I have a lot of luck is unfortunately bad luck so I just get on with life and smile.

Does anyone on this forum have a photo or knowledge of which injector pipe goes to which out let on the Bosch fuel pump, my particular vehicle has the metal type injector pipe that comes from the back of the high pressure pump onto the injectors, I am not sure if the way they are connected at this time is correct, help would be appreciated,
