Mikep1973 - If you are in/near the South West then Tor Garage, Haytor Vale - speak to Alex and tell him I sent you. If you are Midlands or North speak to Paul at RS Tuning in Leeds, that's where DuamoHDi is going and they have a brilliant reputation.
zlomjo - the company that sells the equipment used on mine is "Alientech" and "Kess". You can find them on Google, they may be able to put you in touch with someone who operates near you.
A generic map is one that has been written to cover all models of a specific engine st up as in the original in the car. It makes no allowance for the different uses that people put their vehicles to. Some sit on a motorway all day with very little load, some are loaded full and are up hill and down dale all day working hard but the same engine settings are used for both. A better option is to get the map written or adjusted for your own requirements.
An intercooler on it's own will benefit the engine as the air supplied to the engine will be cooler, helping keep temperatures down and denser, providing more oxygen for a better burn. This will be an academic difference as I don't think you wold notice the difference on it's own.
An intercooler is needed if you increase the boost from the turbo
