Using Aircon Dash Switch for other purposes
#1
Hi all, my first post on here.  Got an 05 Berlingo (AKA bike bus), into which I have fitted a cheap dash cam and reverse camera, all the wires cunningly routed through the modutop and powered by the constant 12v supply in one of the roof glove boxes.  All works fine.

I want to be able to turn off the "always on" nature of these 12v sockets, by inserting a switch into the wiring for this circuit.  I don't have Air Con, and have 2 blank dash buttons.  So I bought an Aircon switch button (part number 9646088877), so that I can use it as a dumb switch.  I chose the Air Con one as it's one I don't have, and it has the LED for when it's on, so I want it to light when the 12v supply is on, and I'll know it's off when it isn't.

The issue i have is one of finding out how on earth to wire up this switch, it has 5 terminals that would normally just connect via a block into the Air con system, and I have no idea which pin does what.  I have used all my google-fu up trying to find the pinout or a wiring diagram that isn't a whole zircon schematic, and failed.

Can anyone assist?

Many thanks!
Dan

Some of the switches are connected to the BSI rather than taking the full load of the circuit so you may find the switch itself can't take the load of the devices on the aux socket but if it's low current then maybe it'll work. The aircon is probably one of the switches connected to the BSI as the aircon compressor won't activate unless there's enough gas pressure. PM me with your VIN if you're still struggling tomorrow and I'll see if I can find the wiring diagram on Sedre.
If you're looking for a few hours to use up, there are copies of Sedre online easily found.

I have no idea what Sedre is, but I'll happily google Smile

Sedre & Doc Backup are Citroen databases with parts, repair procedures & wiring info. There are loads of places that you can download them from & they can be really useful, but it's a faff to set up.

Here's the aircon circuit for a 1.6 HDi. The switch is part number 8000, on the right about 1/3 of the way down. Looks like the 2 terminals on the left are the switch, but note the numbers may be the actual positions. Am not entirely sure how you'd make the LEDs light up, but maybe that's also possible with a feed from the switch.

Our car has aircon and the led is so bright your eyeball has to be nearly touching the switch before you can see it Big Grin
So where does this bit go then ?

Thanks for this, I'm yet to get a minute to try any of it out, but will be trying to wire it up later in the week outside the car just to see if I can get it working.  Very helpful, thanks.
