[Engine] 1.6HDi Throttle Body / Doseur repair?

Seems that my throttle body/doseur may be leaking oil, apparently not uncommon for these engines. I'm not 100% sure this is what the problem is but thought I'd ask if anyone has done a successful repair on these or has a link that could be shared to a repair?
There are quite a few for sale on the bay, but uncertain if they'll be ok or have the same problem.

Apparently the Citroen repair for this (which doesn't always work) is to remove, clean thoroughly and then seal on the outside with a black sealant where the two halves join

That would explain the mess I saw on a Citroen 'repaired' picture from a B9 on here. I was thinking it might be possible to split the 2 halves & re-seal?

I would certainly be interested in any way to fix this. I think my doser/doseur/butterfly metering unit (not sure what the correct name/term is) is also leaking on the alternator for quite some time now. It seems like it has stopped leaking, but would like to fix it as well.

Let us know if you figure how to do it.

From what I've read on the subject, the oil leaking out from the doseur is condensed oil vapour from the inlet air and is common on higher mileage engines. If you've cleaned the intercooler it'll probably help, as will the catch can you installed. I'll report back when I know some more.

Yes, I cleaned the intercooler and there was quite a bit of oil in the associated pipes, so as you said it is probably dripping. I will have to see if the oil catch can works in practice. The rubber hose to the catch can inlet has too many bends and probably oil will pool just after the crankcase breather.

Hi all

I did this last year on our Berlingo - it was leaking onto the alternator and I'd heard that can kill 'em.

Followed a load of different threads/YouTube stuff that suggest you basically mastic all around the moulded joins on the beast. Messy and time consuming (you need to pull it off the car to really do a decent job).

It worked up to as point but, after a few thousand miles the leak was back (there's no obvious 'hole' any place the stuff seems to track along the joints then ooze out)

I ended up buying a secondhand one off eBay (got the scrappie to sign in blood that it was not leaking), swapped over the sensors and fitted that one. 10,000 miles later no leak.

Shame we failed the MoT on the drips from the power steering 'knuckle' on the rack. Currently looking for a 30 hour day so that I have time to fit a recon unit..... :-(

Yeah, mine will probably end up being replaced too but will try the sealer first. I think the long motorway trips in winter have made it worse due to the intercooler being more effective & the engine running at constant high-ish revs. A clean out and sealer, plus oil change and some easier driving in warmer weather may just help things along.
