Hi Danz37, I've just changed the EGR valve on my 2002 1.9D. You'll find that the valve has a vacuum diaphragm underneath controlling the butterfly and another alongside it which is connected to the spring loaded valve itself via a hose to the valve housing(Bosch- ) 928 400 427) The electronic connection(2 pin) is underneath the EGR valve. The Solenoid valve which controls the vacuum to the Butterfly valve is another Bosch unit mounted on the righthand side near the vacuum vessel near the battery. Hope this helps.
