[Brakes] brake light switch
#1
My brake lights intermittently stopped working, or would flicker and be really dim.

i traced the fault to brake light switch. bridged the multi plug with a length of wire, all bulbs then working ok.

i removed the switch from the brake pedal and prised it open with a small screwdriver.

inside it was easy to see burnt out contact that was causing the problem. cleaned it up by scraping with screwdriver and refitted it.

all working fine now. Very easy fix really.

I should maybe replace it, but part of me is hoping it may catch fire and burn the Green Meanie out....then i could buy something Japanese...

I did this on my old 306 n then bought new switch from Pug dealer. It never failed again so car was sold with free switch !

My experience is exactly the opposite, I removed the switch and cleaned the burnt contacts and it worked.... I though that has saved a few quid....two days later I was buying a new switch.
