Heater Blower Removal?
#1
Has anyone taken out their heater blower unit? I have a 1.6HDi with aircon and want to take the blower fan out so that I can give it a clean. I'm guessing that it's possible to take the blower out and leave the aircon (?) matrix in place.
I have the passenger seat out at the moment so access is good but it's not obvious where to start.

OK, looks like 3 hex head screws holding the blower in place, only problem is that one of them is hidden buy the lug that holds the trim in place & the lug that holds the bonnet release, so cut one or both off or move the dash out of the way... I'll leave it for now.

Have the 2.0HDi, 2003. Had the blower out as the controller transistors failed. I do recall having a bit of bother with one of the screws/bolts. I think it helped to remove the bonnet release. Didn't have to touch matrix.

Hi cancunia,

I replaced my heater/blower motor as it was making funny noises (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1v-u6_a0hI). I didi not have any problems, but mine is without aircon, so that could be the difference and the hidden screws.

Cheers,

Thanks for the video link, it looks like the aircon matrix means the blower is a bit more to the left and also a bit further away from the bulkhead so it's tucked under the supports for the trim & bonnet catch. I could probably have got that third screw (approx 6:15 in your video) out with a bit more effort and some cutting but decided I could put up with the slight noise from the fan for now. If it gets worse, I'll look again.

My blower seems to be a different beast to the video. The electrical  leads are much thicker diameter and there is no obvious blower bolts to be seen. I do (or did have air con). All I can make out is a large plastic cover  with >PP-T 36 <embossed and "REMOVE" viisibility is por and access very difficult. I have scapes on my back as evidence. I must try some contortionist excercises !
Can anyone suggest  the next move?
