Fault Code P11AB???? No Turbo Assistance
#1
Not been on the forum in a while mainly because the car has been running great. Now has 220K on it and has been very good to me so far. However i had an issue today where car was running fine then out of the blue it was very sluggish going up hill even on the flat it was very very slow. This proceeded to be the case for about 15 miles of driving over country roads with short steep climbs and descents. There was no engine fault warning on the dash or any kind of lights on the dash at all either.

So after a while of this i noticed i have turbo assistance back but that the turbo was kicking in around the the 2000 RPM point where it normally comes in around 1600 to 1700 RPM. Then i went on a long down hill run for about 3 miles and then everything back to normal again. On the way home i got in alongside a new 19 plate peugeot with the adblue engine in it and he was shifting on but i managed to keep up with him all the way till i turned off that section of road.

Upon arriving home i done a quick code read where i found a manufacturers code P11AB which WAS NOT in the stored codes section of the reader. Upon googling this it appears to be connected to a multiple number of issues but seems to centre upon boost pressure sensor or boost pressure solenoid. One suggestion was that a blockage in the fuel filter can reduce fuel flow which in turn could restrict boost pressure. The car has been running fine for a while again and no re-occurrence of the issue so far so not sure if it is serious problem, start of a problem or just one of these odd things that crops up.

I suppose the best i can hope for here is that it is just a blocked filter which is due changed soon anyway or just one of these things that happens.

If anyone has seen this code crop up and know what it is likely to be a heads up for it would be great.

Thanks

Can you try live monitoring of boost & rail pressure, airflow etc via the Torque app?

Hi folks,

Thanks for the input. I do not have the torque app never looked in to this but will have to see what I can do. I just have a standard OBDII reader and there is no live data feed on that.

Thanks for replying Smaccy I had read about the issues with the solenoid sensor and the switches. I’m on holiday at the moment and my dad is using the car so it is hard for me to do anything quite at this time. He called last night to say it blew the dipstick out too which is worrying. Although the dipstick did blow one day on my old 60 plate put it back in and no issues again. We put that down to not putting it in again right. However there was quite a lot of oil escaped via the dipstick a lot more than I would honest expect to escape from that small hole. I was kind of think that the turbo not working and the dipstick blowing are related and that turbo boost is somehow feeding back and escaping in to the crank case of the engine. I will be speaking to the garage soon and have asked my dad to read codes to see if any other generic codes have been threw up. I will mention to the garage about the valve and let them do it as soon as they can. My garage is quite good as I get good discounts on parts and labour so it’s keeps it affordable for me to get them to do stuff on it.

Just out of interest Smaccy, was this valve you changed on the older or newer engine as my car has the new adblue engine??

Apologies just noticed you said 12 plate. I think the system is slightly different on it now so the switch as per usual will probably be Citroen only and expensive. Will have to wait and see.

Thanks
