[Filters & Oil] DPF Issue or Fault Elsewhere??
#21
The only message I get is when I startup - "Info Risk of Filter Blocking"

A Global Test in Diagbox shows no faults at all in any of the areas

So took the Eloys tank off today and the bag looks like it is 85% full and there are no leaks from the bag
I also removed the motor from the pump and hooked up a 9v battery to test that it was working and it was.

I have also told Diagbox that there is a new Eloys bag etc

The warning message is still there

I'm now thinking of temporarily wiring a small bulb on to the pump motor to see if it lights up when the fuel cap in removed/replaced to see if it is getting activated

I'm starting to run out of ideas

If the bulb does light up then it's not the fuel cap or Eloys pump that is at fault

The pump will probably only activate if there's a difference in fuel level. Did you try telling Diagbox that you've installed a new DPF? Sorry, I don't know where that's done, but others will.

I agree with cancunia that this is the next step. Telling the BSI that you have fitted a new DPF. I would also start paying attention to the EGR valve at this time, as its malfunction can also trigger this message. But before all that, I would take the van in the motorway and give it the beans for 30 minutes, always above 3000rpm. You have to have more than 1/4 of a fuel tank in order for this to work well.

edit: the motor of the additive pump may be working, but the circuit behind it may be faulty...

OK, the warning message has now gone after following @luis Rosa and @cancunia advice to tell Diagbox that I have fitted a new DPF Filter.

The reason I resisted this option at first was because I didn't know whether doing this would cause a serious issue with my DPF and so I wanted to explore all other areas before proceeding.

The process is as follows for anyone else with the same issue. but I would advise sorting and clearing any faults you might have first and also making sure that your DPF is actually regenerating and that your Eloys tank is not empty.
1. In Diagbox go to Repair
2. Let Diagbox do a GLOBAL TEST
3. Once the GLOBAL TEST is done, select ENGINE ECU
4. Choose PACK REPAIR
5. Choose AFTER SALES OPERATION (PARTICLE EMISSION FILTER AND FUEL ADDITIVE ADDING)
6. You will then get asked "Is the vehicle fitted with an external diesel additive adding ECU" - select the green 'tick'
7. Choose REPLACEMENT PARTICLE EMISSION FILTER
8. You will then get a message saying "This operation is to be carried out only after the procedure for the replacement of the particle emissions filter has been followed" - select the green 'tick'
9. You then get a question saying "Reset of the filter management ECU?" - select the green 'tick'
10. Then you get a message saying "OPERATION DONE"

This process just appear to reset some kind of counter which seems to automatically generate the "Blocked Filter" message when the mileage reaches about 111000 miles.

Glad to know that it's sorted! I have a habit of buying 'high mileage' cars so this will be helpful with my next one which will probably have a DPF by the time I get around to my next change of ride.

Hello all,

I have a Peugeot 508 but surfing though google this forum looked like the most promising with my problem. My problem is that I have the "P1490" error and the "risk of particle filter clogging" message. I have 97% DPF full. My DPF was cleaned professionally but the service couldn't reset the DPF. Now I have a clean filter which is still 97% full and 6000km left. I tried the "dpf replacement" option in Diagbox but useless. I get the final message that successfully replaced but after I am reading again the parameters are the same. So what I am doing wrong? Why the replacement procedure finishes OK but then nothing resets?

Thank you very much,
David

hi (salut!)
if the car is newer than 2016 then diagbox will not be able to code, just scan for errors, you need to go at Peugeot dealer/service and ask them to recode the dpf replacement (try Eurial Pantelimon)

Sorry for reviving an old thread but after battling this issue for 2 days I'll post my resolution. I had the same issue as the original poster, I could not reset the dpf milleage counter (no option in diagbox). Went from diagbox version 7.02 and stepped through all the version up to 7.62. After that I could not update as I received an error. No option for counter reset in any of these versions. Tried a different source for diagbox but no joy. It must be something within the ECU.
Resolution:
Found Diagbox 9.91 working on my win11! No messing with my old laptop.
This diagbox is working in a virtual machine enviroment. Only drawback windows is in french but diagbox can be changed to english easy.
Source for download Diagbox 9.91 . It's more than 6GB. I paid for one month sub to download in few minutes as I was in a hurry, but it's free to download it will just take a long time.
There are instructions within the download file, translate with google translate and read it, not much to it. Internet connection can stay on.
After forced regen the difference in pressure between particulate emission filter input/output in my case in idle is 3 mbar so looks good.
