Airbag Warning Light
#1
I
My Airbag light is constantly on. Also get a warning on the Dash.
Decided to take a look under the seats.under the Drivers seat I found this

Does anyone know if rejoining the 2 wires would make the light go away ?
Thanks
Ian

What model / year Berlingo do you have? If people know what car you have, it makes suggestions a bit easier, for future ref, posting in the relevant model section of the forum helps narrow things down a bit too. Am I right in guessing that you have an M49 or M59 Berlingo & the seats do not have airbags? If so, chances are that your picture shows the seatbelt pre-tensioner connector. Are the wires cut, or broken?

Thanks for the Reply
Its the 1.6 HDi 90 bhp Desire model on an 06 plate
That’s a good question I’m hoping their broken.if so it’s a very clean brake. If they’ve been cut to extinguish the light then it’s not happening cause the light is still on.
I think their are air bags in the door frames either side
Thanks

An open circuit would cause the warning light to come on, same as the connector being unplugged. I really can't say if joining them would fix your problem though.

I would suggest you have airbags in the side of the seats, as there are two sets of connections in the pic. One will be for the seatbelt pretensioner and the other the seat side airbag.
As I understand it, the system looks for approx 4 ohms for the airbags and pretensioners. A short or open circuit can therefore be detected. Reconnecting the wires should clear the airbag light.
Note there are plenty of warnings in the Haynes re airbag safety. Advice is to disconnect battery and wait for half hour before working on any part of airbags.

Many Thanks
For all the replies. Disconnected the Battery. And then removed Seat. Had a good look at the connections. It’s difficult to say if the Wires were deliberately cut or just snapped. Anyway reconnected the broken wires. And the Airbag fault light seems to be fixed. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Only problem I have now is the Anti Pollution fault on the Display.Im thinking it may be fuel filter needing changed

Good to know that repairing the wiring has fixed your problem, it's never certain with the airbag wiring. I looked again at the picture in your first post, I think that as it's the driver's seat the other 2 wires in the pic are for the seat belt warning light. You can tell if there are airbags in the seats by the plastic covers on the outside face of the seat back near to the top.
Have a poke around the forum re your Anti Pollution fault.
