Berlingo side sliding door lock
#1
Hi there. Someone damaged my lh rear door lock. I bought a new one and my mate fitted it. The door locks and opens from the inside but wont open from the outside. Any ideas as to what could cause this and a fix please.

There is a pivot pin that shears - cheap from ebay - which may be causing your problem.

The linkage rods internal to the door may have been affected and require setting - easy if you look at the other door for reference / take a photo of.

It can be fiddly to sort but once done you'd find it quick and easy the next time.

edit : I did the pin on mine a few months back and whilst at it I adjusted the linkages and it made the doors easier to shut fully in one go rather than having to take two goes at it when being more gentle at door closing - I hate slamming doors !!

Hi Geoff. Thanks for the quick reply. I have replaced the whole door lock so pin is good. i will try the linkage rod . My mate put the rods back in the correct order but still wouldn't work from the outside. I'll look at the RH side lock  Thanks again much appreciated.
