Cruise control not working in 5th gear

It can only be in a couple of places - on/in the gearbox or at the gear selector. Can you get the cover around the gear stick out to see if there's any wiring connected, or underneath where the gear control cables are?

Mechanical issues aside, it doesnt explain the bsi cutting cruise and ecu thinking its in neutral.

Does anyone know how the ecu calculates what gear its in?

Will remove some stuff later so i can get a better look at the back of the gearbox to see if i can see any sensors. Looked in around the gearstick and dont see anything.

Noticed the ecu anti-tamper bracket was gone today so someone was at it previously.
Had it flashed it back to original to rule out any tunining errors but no change.

Its a 2009 van

Have you tried lifting the clutch pedal up with your foot when in 5th gear?

Yes, I have ruled out the clutch and brake switch on the basis that they dont cause an issue in 4th gear too.

Its either ecu or bsi reated I think unless there is actually a gear selection sensor somewhere on these.

I read on a different forum (different make) of someone with the same problem, CC worked but not in 5th gear, lifting the clutch pedal up solved the issue, the pedal must have been slightly lower down when in 5th for some reason.

Yeah, worth checking the clutch switches via Diagbox actuator tests. What gear does Diagbox think you're in with the gear lever in 4th with the clutch pedal pressed?

Cant see any clutch or brake switch options under actuator tests. Got up live data and went for a drive.
Strangely its getting better now, thinks its in 5th most of the time and switches to neutral for a couple of seconds then back.

When it switches to neutral live data for both clutch and brake sensor say released so it doesnt seem to be these.

I also flashed the ecu back to the file that was on the van when I purchased it to see if it was the reflash of the ecu that helped the issue but it made no difference.

I need to figure out how it calculates what gear its in, i think this is where the issue lies.
