Hi all

Newby so bear with me.

My heater fan has stopped working on all speeds but four, so I'm going to change the fan resistor pack...

BUT....

Does the resistor pack have any influence on the A/C working? Mine isn't working even on speed four and i was wondering if anybody knows if there is a signal that might go via the resistor to the A/C gubbins?

Yes when the resistor pack went it stopped my air-conditioning working on my 08 b9 1.6hdi infact that was the main reason I replaced it .

I know the aircon switches itself off if the fan isn't running but its possible it gets its signal from speed 1 of the fan, not too sure how its all wired up really, you would have to check it all out with a new resistor pack.

You could always bypass the pressure sensor on the aircon line and see if the compressor kicks in on speed 4, if it does then its a safe bet there isn't any refrigerant in the system, if it doesn't then its down to the fan, maybe.
