What engine you have ?

If you have HDI engine:
P1162 - Electric EGR valve position copy signal

You have problem with EGR sticking. You have to take it out and clean.

what is the trouble you are getting with this code?

One site says something about a/c high temp ! which I don't believe is right . A

Another is saying (auto trouble code site)

P1162 Peugeot Possible Solution:

Excessive air inflow can be caused by a vacuum leak, a dirty sensor or, an exhaust gas recirculation valve not closing properly. If the problem is not enough fuel, the culprit may be dirty injectors or fuel filters, a weak fuel pump or a leaky fuel pressure regulator. The lean fuel mix error may be accompanied by rough idling, engine misfires, hesitation during acceleration and overall poor engine performance.

Peugeot codes should be the same for Citroen

Hi 16 hdi put a new egr on 3 months ago so did not expect that ?

Hi all took egr off and stripped it as said only three months old found the new replacement did not open and close far enough it never did centre rod not long enough so opened partially so sooted up took to local garage they laughed and said cheap foreign muck ,so ordered a new one, best of all my old neighbour just said simple take the electric top of the naff one and the original bottom off old egr and marry them together and dam it works fine,see how long it lasts ,just save the one on order as spare ?
