Cigarette lighter won't charge when ignition off
#1
Hi all - can you help?

I have bought a second hand Citroen Berlingo first registered 30/07/2009
The V5 shows the model as: Berlingo M-SP VT 16v 90
Vehicle Category: M1

The cigarette lighter only powers when the ignition is on, i want it to continue working when its not.

I have posted this question in another section, and they suggested i ask here as my vehicle was
manufactured during the 'change over'.

My car didn't come with a handbook so i don't know the fuse box layout

Does anyone know which fuse and where i need to check/move?

Can anyone help?

AFAIK, both the later B9 & the M59 Berlingo have a live accessory / lighter socket only when the ignition is live. The modutop versions of the M59 (not sure about the B9) have 2 permanently live accessory sockets in the overhead storage.
There are some threads on here about a 'shunt' fuse with 2 possible positions, but I'm not exactly sure what that does.
Maybe someone else will know more.

The  m49 models have a fuse which in one position had a live lighter socket without ignition and in the other position it was live with ignition .
It was worked with 3 fuse sockets and depended what 2 sockets you fitted the fuse to, the top two or the bottom two, The middle one was the live one.

In the photo fuse no 23 and 23b are the same fuse just in the two different positions.
I don't know if the same arrangement is still applicable for your model of berlingo.
