P2143 code error

Hi guys the engine management light is on .This is the 2.00 H.-Dieter engine.the code fault says 
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VENT CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN. 
Where’s the best place to start before I start pulling it apart .

On the 2.0 the EGR is controlled by vacuum via a solenoid located somewhere near / under the MAF IIRC. You can trace the hose from the EGR back to the solenoid. Maybe there's some wiring loose there?
