2012 Dashboard Speaker Wiring

Hi,
Just joined and hoping someone could help me. I've got a 2012 Berlingo van and want to update the speakers. I've got the replacement speakers and can see no problem with the door ones. However, when I prized off the mesh grill from the dashboard speakers, there was no speaker and no wiring. So I have 2 questions:

1. is there meant to be wiring there and if so where is it and how do I get to it?

2. If there is no wiring for the dash speakers I can put my own in but how do I route it through the door and into the dash to achieve this? 

Any help on this will be very much appreciated.

Hi I put dash speakers in mine there was no wiring there ..

I ran the cables behind the dash using a bit of bamboo an connected them on to the plug at the back of the radio..

you have to enable the dash speakers In diagbox too .. or at least I did.. fader I think it was called front to back ..
