Hello everyone, I’m about to change lower suspension arms from past experience right side is easy but near side you end up pulling drive shaft out , which wasn’t a problem on manual gearbox but I have egs so don’t won’t to lose gearbox oil. Before releasing bottom ball joint can I strap the strut somehow to stop drive shaft popping out any suggestions would be helpfull thanks

you could always try to compress the road spring with a clamp the take the pressure off the bottom joint when its jacked up. A rope from one strut to the other through where the steering rack sits should work.
I've done a few and I've had your problem before and its only worked once for me without the shaft falling out.

Undo the bottom of the drop link and the ball joint pinch bolt first then knock the arm down to release it and it shouldn't be a problem. You need to move the hub round to reconnect the bottom ball joint so tying it up will make it awkward. There is enough movement in the UJs to stop it pulling out if you don't go mental with them.
So where does this bit go then ?
