Amdro rear window storage unit, how good?
#1
I could use a handy storage space for small items and wondered how useful a right side unit would be. I would appreciate any comments or alternatives.
I note I use the left side window for reversing. I have 13 Reg Berlingo Multispace XTR and a solo bed unit with storage boxes underneath. When sat on the bed it is not that convenient to reach small items. I use a coolbox to store most food items. I hike from the car and use at as a regular car most of the time so do not want to build tall cupboards which require storage in the house. I do not have garage and insufficient room in the shed.

Not got one myself but from looking at the pictures on the Amdro website the amount of space the storage units give is limited. If your bed is on the left, have you investigated the space behind the right hand side panel? I'm not sure what's built into an XTR on that side but on my basic model Partner there's a side pocket in the panel, plus a big void behind the panel that I'm thinking about using. Could you build something using the internal roof bar mounts?

I’m pleased with my unit. But you might want to bear in mind that some of the space in the right-side unit is taken up by the bracket that holds the optional power pack (bracket dimensions W 19cm, H 9.5cm, D 4.5cm.) see photos attached.
Amdro apparently make theses units to order, so, maybe they could leave out the bracket if you don’t want the power pack?
I wasn’t sure how useful I’d find the light (included with the power pack) because I’ve got other options, but its my first choice now.

I found this helpful too:

I am considering maybe one or both of these in the future , my question would be about reversing too . Until I get a reverse help wireless or not , not sure I would find this helpful having that blind bit at the moment , especially getting used to my new car /van
sorry io might sound stupid now but ....
The power point , is that something you use so you don't die your own battery out ? do you plug it into the cigar socket and charge during driving and unplug at times the car is not driving ? and does it have a three pin plug or just USB ports ?
Thank you
Mike
