Will struts off a newer model fit a 2001?
#1
New here so hopefully I'm posting in the right place Smile My trusty Berlingo got an advisory for a leaking shock on the last MOT. Rather than pick up two brand new ones (I'm guessing they need replacing in pairs to stop one side sitting higher than the other) I was just going to buy two complete struts from a breakers. I'm guessing I would need to get ones from a 2.0 HDI 800KG to match mine, but does anyone know if that can be off the newer MK2? Finding second hand parts for the MK1 is obviously getting harder due to the age

Your model is almost a mk2, they changed from mk1 to mk2 in 2001.(oct I think ?).  I don't think there was any great change in the suspension between models so they would probably fit without any bother.

Someone else may definitely know.

The change was in 2003, and no, there's no difference between a Mk I and II (with the same engine and load specs) on those parts.

But honestly, I wouldn't buy those parts secondhand.

The strut doesn't govern the ride height the spring does, just buy one and fit the same spring and you will have no problem. If you buy second hand you don't know they are a matched pair one could be newer.
So where does this bit go then ?
