Radio Jumping Channel
#1
Hi all,
I am having a radio problem with the radio in my 2006 1.6hdi Berlingo Multispace Desire constantly changing channel. It hsas got progressively worse to the point now that when i switch it on it just keeps constantly jumping to the next channl up and it doesnt matter if it's one of my pre programmed stations or not. I have changed the head unit with two others (guaranteed ok) but exactly the same so definately not that.
Channels are strong so not the aerial. I suspect it may be something to do with the column remote. Does anyone have any idea if this is hardwired or work through some sort of interface or how difficult it is to replace? Hopefully someone has had a similar problem and can help as it's driving me mental at the moment. Many thanks in advance for any help received.

Bill

Maybe you could remove the radio remote from the column? They plug into the column COM2000 module with a small catch at the back. The covers can be a bit of a faff to get out of the way but not impossible, the screws holding the covers on are torx. It might be a bad connection in/to the COM2000 unit also. I've never traced the wiring back so don't know where the connectors are but there are plenty for sale that should have pictures to give a clue.

It does sound like the column remote is playing up, check nothing is holding a button down or its stuck. They are easy to replace just need to remove column shroud and it unclips. Have a look on fleabay for a cheap replacement.
Are we there yet????? Huh
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

Thanks very much for the reply. I will give it a go.

Thanks for the reply. The remote does work but that does not mean its ok.  i have ordered aniother one from Ebay so hopefully that cures the problem.  considering its an absolute workhorse and done nearly 200K its not doing bad. You just hear every little noise without the radio and the mind works overtime lol.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have now fitted the replacement remote and the radio has not changed channel in at least 10mins... it was 10secs before!
Does anyone know what other radio MFD display will fit my car a1.6 HDI 2006? I have the three line one and every time the car gets warm the amber display fades to nothing. I am sure its not related to the other problem as its done it since I bought the car a few years ago. I have looked on ebay but they are all single line ones, will the one from a C8 work? there are a couple of lcd ones on ebay.

Thanks

Glad to see you have it fixed.
There are 2 types of display (MFD) that will fit the Berlingo M59, they are EMF A & EMF B, or simply type A & type B.
Saskak did a lot of work on the fading display problem, if you have a search around for 'MFD' you should come across his posts and probably a couple of mine too.
I think that most of the MFD's will fit so long as they are A or B, the key is the shape of the connector at the rear, I fitted a green background display from a C5 (IIRC) although it may have been a C8.
