Message for the Mods am I having a senior moment....

I'm trying to put image into a post, but can only get the links, not the image.

I've tried the [img] ... [/img] method but no luck, also I don't get the edit box with Bold Italic etc as shown here...

Is something missing, or is it me?

 How I attached this fuse box picture :-

After clicking the New Reply box  I went to "New Attachment" below the new "Message Box" and clicked browse, I then hunted for a pic to attach and selected that by pressing the "open" box. A link to it then appeared in a new box below the "New Attachment " box. Press "Add Attachment" Then by clicking the "Insert Into Post "   the link appeared in the message box. 
  Hope it makes sense. Just tried it and it works

Thanks Brodfather, I'll give it a go next time I need to put a picture in. Would be nice to know why things are not as they should be according to the help info too, in case any of the Mods out there happen to know.
