Firstly, a confession.. This is about my Volvo C30, I bought the Volvo after selling both my M59 & B9, both were sold within a week, out of the blue, so I needed a new car quickly & along came the Volvo. Plan is to get another Berlingo, with Modutop when I see one for sale.
The Volvo has the same 16V engine as the Berlingo, so I wondered if anyone has noticed similar performance on a 100BHP M59 or B9 16V.
OK, the engine has had a few problems in the past, at least 2 & possibly 3 injectors have been replaced in the past. The symptoms I'm seeing are that the engine runs fine and will accelerate up to 3rd without issue but is really sluggish below 2k rpm in 4th & 5th which means I need to change down to get any acceleration. It's probably the same in all gears, but much more noticeable in 4th & 5th.
My 3 Berlingos were all standard turbos that spin up with RPM, rather than the VNT in the 110 so maybe it's just that the VNT works differently?
A quick update, seems that this may be caused by the turbo actuator solenoid. I'll report back when I know some more.
